We are thrilled to welcome to the Americas team our Associate Director Harry Linton, who has recently moved to Canada to join a major transportation program in Toronto.
Next stop, Toronto
It’s been a month since I relocated from Melbourne to Toronto with Systech. While the move is still fresh, I am already enjoying what Toronto has to offer.
I spent just under eight years with Systech in Australia, working my way up to Director level after transferring from the UK. I spent all my time in Australia working on multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects, leading teams delivering commercial and cost management services.
When the opportunity arose to transfer to Canada, I knew it would be a challenge but also a chance to try something new and bring my experience to a new continent.
How Systech supported the transfer
Systech made the relocation as seamless as possible. From initial discussions through to closing out in Australia, they were supportive throughout. They engaged dedicated external visa experts who guided me through the process. That meant I could focus on preparing for the role and the personal side of moving to a new continent.
Beyond the visa process, the Systech leadership team were supportive of the move from a personal level. Early conversations with the Canadian leadership team about how the business operates here meant I was well prepared before I arrived. The business is well versed in facilitating international moves and values making the transition as straightforward as possible.
First impressions of Systech Canada and Toronto
While I’ve moved halfway across the world, there is a similar feel to the city and the organisation. The Systech team in Toronto have been quick to welcome me, offering advice on both professional and personal matters.
Toronto itself has felt surprisingly familiar. Much like Melbourne, it’s a sports mad multicultural city with a big food scene. I am looking forward to the buzz around the city when the Football World Cup is hosted here in 2026.
Looking ahead
Although I’ve only just arrived, the frameworks in Toronto are much like those in Melbourne meaning my skillset is transferrable and positions me to add real value for Canadian clients from day one.
The move offers an exciting opportunity to continue developing professionally by broadening my knowledge of Canadian delivery models, building new client relationships, and sharing lessons learned from my time in Australia.
With Systech’s international platform, I’m excited to play a part in the growth of the business in North America.
